SATAN THE DEVIL

We believe in the reality and personality of Satan (Job 1:6-12). We believe and teach that he is a fallen angel who is called the devil (Matthew 4:1-11), accuser, deceiver, tempter, destroyer (John 10:10), father of lie (John 8:44), and the author of sin (1 John 3:8).

We believe and teach that Satan was originally one of God’s created angels named Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12) who possesses all the attributes of angels but incurred the judgment of God because of his rebellion against his Creator (Isaiah 14:13-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19) by taking a great company of angels with him in his fall (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 12:1-14), and by introducing sin into the human race by his temptation of Eve (Genesis 3:1-15).

We also believe and teach that Satan is the wicked one (John 3:12), the adversary (1 Peter 5:8), the great, open and declared enemy of God, man, and the people of God (Isaiah 14:13, 14; Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 12:9, 10). We believe and teach that he is the prince of this world who has been defeated through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 16:20; Ephesians 1:19-23; Colossians 2:15). He constantly opposes God and all that God does.

We believe and teach that he will suffer eternal conscious punishment in the Lake of fire (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10).
